HEADLINER BAND: BART CHUCKER & FRIENDS
From the solo acoustic act to his full six piece band, Bart Chucker has been part of Virginia’s live music scene for 30 years. Performing more than 1500 times before both small and large audiences, Bart’s musical experiences are varied. Having shared the stage with national acts like the Dave Matthews Band, he also performs regularly in smaller intimate settings. Bart plays music in any shape or form. You may see him in an acoustic duo, trio, four piece acoustic band or with his full electric band. He’ll tell you himself, “I just love playin’ music man”. From the Stones to Johnny Cash, Van Morrison to the Grateful Dead, Chris Stapleton to the Cure and throw in a little Bob Marley, some Buffett - stir it up and it’s the recipe for good times. The Bart Chucker Band includes some of Virginia’s finest talent: Sax - John Leslie has appeared on the Tonight Show, the MTV Music Awards and has earned six RIAA gold and platinum albums; Drums - Jonathan Storrs has toured the US with the Grammy nominated band, “The Main Ingredient” performing in the Kennedy Center and other large venues; Guitar - John Leedes, one of the area’s most gifted guitarists, has shared the stage with national artists like Edie Brickell, Little Feat, Bruce Hornsby and the J Geils Band. Bass - Tom Crosby is a “musician’s bass player” who has long developed his craft with childhood friend, Dave Schools of Widespread Panic, with whom he recently shared the stage at the National Theater. Keyboards - Mark Szafranski, owner of Richmond’s Metro Sound and Music, has toured in the US and Europe opening for acts like Warren Haynes, Little Feat, Leon Russell and Edgar Winter. Sound, Lights, Production - Bobby Jorgenson and Mark Zipperer, with decades of experience, are experts in the field of sound production and stage management providing the band with professional and quality production. Bobby Jorgenson, with his soulful voice and exceptional musical skill, performs often with Bart in the acoustic act.
